T-Satellite Troubleshooting and FAQ
Having trouble with T-Satellite or have questions about how it works with WorkerSafety Pro? This article covers common issues, fixes, and frequently asked questions.
Troubleshooting
Can't Connect to T-Satellite
If your phone isn't connecting to the satellite network, check the following:
- Are you outdoors? T-Satellite requires a clear view of the sky. It will not work inside buildings, vehicles, or under heavy cover.
- Is your phone compatible? Make sure your device is on the eligible devices list. Visit t-mobile.com/support/coverage/satellite-support to check.
- Is T-Satellite active on your account? Log into your T-Mobile account to confirm the service is enabled.
- Is your phone software up to date? Install the latest software update for your phone's operating system.
- Have you given it enough time? Satellite connections can take a moment to establish. Wait at least 30–60 seconds before assuming there's a problem.
If it's still not working, try:
- Moving to an area with fewer trees, buildings, or terrain blocking the sky
- Restarting your phone
- Double-checking your T-Satellite settings in your T-Mobile account
WorkerSafety Pro Not Working on Satellite
If you're connected to T-Satellite but WorkerSafety Pro isn't functioning properly:
- Update the app. Make sure WorkerSafety Pro is running the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.
- Check the connection indicator. Confirm that your phone shows "T-Mobile SpaceX" or "T-Sat+Starlink" as the network name.
- Verify your subscription. Make sure your Becklar subscription is active.
- Restart the app. Force-close WorkerSafety Pro and reopen it.
- Send a test check-in. This is the quickest way to verify that communication is working.
If the issue continues, contact Becklar support (details below).
Messages or Alerts Taking a Long Time
Satellite communication is naturally slower than cellular. This is expected behavior, not a malfunction.
- Messages and alerts typically take 30 seconds to a few minutes to send.
- Stay in place with a clear view of the sky while waiting.
- Don't send the same message or alert repeatedly — your phone will keep trying automatically until it succeeds.
- Make sure you haven't moved inside or under heavy cover while waiting.
If a message hasn't sent after several minutes and you have a clear sky view, try restarting the app or moving to a slightly different position.
Frequently Asked Questions
General
Do I need to change any settings in WorkerSafety Pro?
No. Your existing safety settings work automatically with T-Satellite. The app detects the connection type and handles everything for you.
Will my safety features work differently on satellite?
All features work the same way. The only difference is that alerts and messages may take slightly longer to transmit via satellite compared to cellular.
Is there an extra cost for using WorkerSafety Pro on T-Satellite?
There are no additional fees from Becklar. You'll need T-Satellite service from T-Mobile, which is included with some plans (Experience Beyond, Go5G Next) or available as an add-on. Contact T-Mobile for pricing.
Connection and Coverage
How do I know if I'm on satellite vs. cellular?
Look for "T-Mobile SpaceX" or "T-Sat+Starlink" in your phone's network name at the top of the screen. iPhone users will also see "SAT" and Android users will see a satellite icon.
What happens when I move between cellular and satellite coverage?
WorkerSafety Pro switches automatically between networks. You stay protected the entire time without doing anything.
Will T-Satellite work inside buildings or vehicles?
No. T-Satellite requires a clear view of the sky and works best outdoors. It will not function inside buildings, vehicles, or under heavy tree cover.
Does T-Satellite work everywhere in the U.S.?
T-Satellite covers the continental United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and parts of southern Alaska. Check T-Mobile's coverage map at t-mobile.com/coverage/coverage-map for specifics.
Emergencies
Can monitoring centers respond as quickly to satellite alerts?
Once an alert is received, the response is immediate — Becklar's monitoring centers use the same protocols for satellite and cellular alerts. The only difference is that the alert itself may take slightly longer to transmit via satellite.
What if I need to call 911?
While connected to T-Satellite, you can text 911 for emergencies using your phone's messaging app. For voice calls, your phone will search for available cellular networks first. iPhone 14 and newer models can also use Apple's built-in satellite emergency SOS service for voice communication.
What if my alert confirmation is delayed?
Stay in place if it's safe to do so — this helps maintain your satellite connection. Your alert is being transmitted and help is on the way, even if confirmation takes a moment longer than usual.
For Safety Managers
How does the dashboard show satellite-connected workers?
The Becklar Safety Dashboard displays a connection type indicator for each worker, showing whether they're on cellular or satellite. All other information (status, check-ins, alert history) appears the same.
Should I adjust check-in schedules for satellite workers?
It depends on your workflow. Satellite communication may add 30 seconds to a few minutes to check-in delivery times. If your check-in windows are very tight, consider adding a small buffer for workers in satellite-only areas. For most teams, the default schedules work fine.
How should I prepare my team for satellite coverage?
Have workers test the satellite connection in a safe location before deploying to remote areas. Set expectations about timing differences, emphasize the need for clear sky views, and run practice alert scenarios so everyone is comfortable with the experience.
